Living an Orthodox life in today’s society is hard, especially for young adults and teenagers. In the Ark of Salvation we explain clearly and simply why it is important to live our lives according to the teachings of the Orthodox Church. Every chapter contains real-life questions together with our attempts to answer them using the teaching of the Church as our guide.
In the first part of the book we discuss Orthodox faith and worship. In the second part, we look at how to put this faith into practice in our everyday life. We also discuss some important moral and practical issues including recent advances in science and medicine.
Although especially relevant to young people and their parents, we hope that other Orthodox Christians will find this book useful as a straightforward guide to some aspects of Orthodox life.
Written by the fathers of Saint Edward Brotherhood together with a group of young Orthodox Christians, the Ark of Salvation explains what the Church teaches in an approachable but theologically sound way.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading [The Ark of Salvation] and find that the book is an excellent resource for young people, and not only for the young, but also for everyone, in providing answers to many timely and often troubling questions. It is a good catechetical handbook. - Metropolitan Hilarion of New York and Eastern America.
I wholeheartedly commend all those involved in producing such a superb and helpful book, which is handsomely designed and printed. It deserves to be widely read and, one hopes, put into practice by all Orthodox Christians, both young and old. Orthodox Tradition
The Ark of Salvation is a very good book that answers many questions. We are glad to see it written and we are sure that all who make use of it will receive great benefit therefrom. We hope that many will avail themselves of this opportunity to gain much needed, and interesting, instruction. Living Orthodoxy
